I also played baseball and or softball for 32 seasons.
The proper grip for you would be the one which feels most comfortable to you. The three grips are the overlap (or Vardon), the interlock, or the 10-finger (baseball). I’ve included a link below.
I prefer the interlock myself.
Interlocking grip. you can look it up on the internet or youtube to get a good description of the grip.
I play softball now and i used to use the baseball grip but my golf instructor started me with the interlocking grip and it works great. Try all the grips and see what works best.
